Go To Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

This is my go to chocolate chip cookie recipe. I love to make it for friends and family, for teacher gifts, and just because. It has a secret ingredient, toffee bits, that melt together making the cookie extra chewy and delicious. Enjoy!

  • 2 sticks butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 12 oz. semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup toffee bits (I like to use Heath Bits O’ Brickle)

Preheat oven to 350.

Combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

Cream butter and sugars until fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Slowly add in flour mixture. Beat on medium 2 minutes.

Stir in chocolate chips and toffee bits.

Drop 2 oz. (about 1 inch balls) of cookie dough onto cookie sheet at least 1 inch apart.

Bake 12-14 minutes.

** Time saving mama hack: I personally hate dirtying two bowls to combine wet and dry ingredients separately (who wants to wash more dishes?). So, I add all of my wet ingredients to my kitchen aid mixer first and mix until combined. I then add all dry ingredients on top of my wet ingredients and turn my mixer on low to slowly incorporate them. Then beat on medium as normal. I have never had any issues with consistency or flavor, but try at your own risk as I am sure professional bakers are cringing right now!
